German Tour Diary – Day 5

Hey guys

What a pleasure to have had a rest day yesterday..

It was much needed for most of the boys.. especially after the after-show party in Munich on Friday night!!

Neil, Robbie, Tony & Craig and the boys from Watershed threw it down in style in the bars & clubs of Munich until the early hours of Saturday morning.. in fact it was decided that the only way to make it through the day yesterday was to have a few beers for breakfast and just maintain the buzz all day long.. ha ha ha..

Beer for breakfast is nothing out of the ordinary in Munich and so Clint opted to join in, leading to a very jovial atmosphere on the tour bus as we left for Leipzig!

Arriving in Leipzig late Saturday afternoon, we checked into the beautiful 4-star Leipzig Lindner Hotel, and then headed into the city for a walk about.

Leipzig is part of what used to be East Germany and is a beautiful old city. We explored for about 2hrs and then sat down for a beer at one of the many cafes in the city centre.. We opted for a traditional German dinner at a great old restaurant, and then we headed back to the hotel for an early night and some much needed rest.

This morning we met downstairs in the breakfast room, and Robbie J told us that he was heading off to go and find the house were Bach was born/lived. A pilgrimage he says every muso should make in his life..!!

So Tony & Rob N have gone off with him. The rest of us are just chilling in the beautiful hotel and re-charging our batteries before the shows in Leipzig tonight, Berlin tomorrow night and Hamburg on Tuesday night.

Watershed stayed in Berlin last night and so we’ll connect with them again at the venue later this afternoon for the first time since Munich.

We’re also keeping an eye on this unfolding volcanic ash story and trying to figure out how we’re going to get home to SA from Germany if there are still no flights leaving Europe in 2 weeks time..!! This 3 week tour might turn into a 3 month tour.. eish!

Ok, gotta go get ready for soundcheck..

Will chat to y’all again soon.
